About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer-Lead to join our team. This position will involve working on various projects in Rail (High Speed, Metro, LRT, streetcars) in our Toronto office.
Lead Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities- You will work directly with the Senior Management team in Toronto, working independently and with minimal supervision.
- Responsible for taking design projects from start to finish and applying a high level of technical, professional engineering, and consulting expertise.
- Familiar with National, Provincial, and Municipal Codes and Standards such as NFPA, OBC, CSA.
- Ensures the design documents meet established project criteria and applicable standards.
- Experience in Design and hydraulic calculation of Fire protection systems (Sprinkler, standpipe, pre-action, and clean agent suppression).
- Participates in client management, business development, and proposal preparation activities.
- Prepare engineering design, including calculations, specification, and drawings for the following building systems: HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection, and Fuel Systems.
- You will be responsible for managing certain aspects of project financial review and maintaining budget and meeting delivery milestones.
- Responsible for reviewing project construction and managing construction engineering correspondence.
- Peer review junior engineers' work.
- Develop and mentor a high-performing team of junior staff.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- 7-9 years of related experience in a mechanical consulting engineering environment.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario (P. Eng.).
- Rail experience is mandatory.
- Experience in fire protection and fuel systems is mandatory.
- LEED Accreditation and sustainable design experience are highly desirable qualifications.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Carrier Hourly Analysis Program (HAP) or Trane TRACE software, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) are required.
- Proficiency with MEP Revit is highly desirable.
- Must have excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with a strong desire and ability to collaborate and problem-solve in an integrated team environment.
