Your Role on Our Team:

Cellcom is in search of a Senior Mechanical Engineering Lead to oversee projects related to mining process facilities, contributing to our growth in Central Canada. The chosen candidate will be instrumental in all stages of engineering projects, from preliminary studies to on-site execution, with an emphasis on detailed engineering.

As a senior member of the mechanical engineering division, you will be tasked with ensuring technical excellence, identifying new business prospects, and nurturing team development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct high-level engineering assessments on significant mechanical systems, including crushing and grinding circuits, flotation systems, leaching processes, dewatering, heavy machinery, conveyors, and pumping systems.
  • Formulate mechanical scopes of work, budgets, and proposals.
  • Ensure compliance with budgets, timelines, estimates, and established protocols.
  • Lead mechanical components in conceptual design studies, pre-feasibility assessments, feasibility studies, and detailed engineering.
  • Oversee or perform design calculations, ensuring adherence to guidelines and legal requirements.
  • Delegate and review tasks assigned to junior engineers, technicians, and drafters, evaluating technical scope.
  • Build and maintain client relationships to ascertain their requirements.
  • Present technical data, concepts, or study findings.
  • Verify and prepare documentation for tenders, specifications, and other technical materials.
  • Occasionally supervise contractors on-site.
  • Act as a key contributor to small to large-scale brownfield and greenfield mining initiatives.
  • Engage in site visits, inspections, condition assessments, commissioning, and testing.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior and intermediate engineers, sharing knowledge and fostering skill enhancement within the team.
  • Encourage a workplace culture that values enjoyment while delivering high-quality professional outputs.
  • Oversee process plant layout design: a significant advantage.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Demonstrated success with robust technical expertise as a Mechanical Engineer on mineral processing projects.
  • Experience in base and precious metals is advantageous.
  • Capability to interpret process flow diagrams (PFDs) and design criteria, oversee plant layouts, select mechanical equipment, evaluate technical bids, and validate pump sizing.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Over 20 years of relevant engineering experience in the mining industry, with a preference for the last 10 years in consulting.
  • Must hold a valid P.Eng registration in Ontario, Canada.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Willingness to undertake site work as required.
  • Site experience is considered a strong asset.
