Our vision is to foster a sustainable future by ensuring efficient access to water and energy. We are currently seeking a Buyer, Direct Materials for a contract role. This position will report to the Direct Purchasing Team Lead.

Position Overview

The primary focus of this role is to oversee the Bill Of Material (BOM) for our production facilities, with additional responsibilities in procurement management.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Optimize inventory management across manufacturing sites to guarantee timely product delivery at competitive prices, employing best practices in inventory control.
  2. Develop and execute replenishment strategies for BOM items, emphasizing automation and process enhancement (e.g., VMI Programs, Kanban).
  3. Analyze inventory trends to establish critical parameters such as minimum and maximum stock levels, Economic Order Quantity (EOQ), and reorder points.
  4. Foster supplier relationships to maximize value and support sourcing initiatives.
  5. Identify and propose opportunities for cost reduction and process enhancements.
  6. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (Scheduling, Operations, Engineering, Quality, Sales) to align Supply Chain efforts with business objectives and enhance Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  7. Prepare and analyze weekly/monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), providing insights into variances.
  8. Maintain accurate master data in our ERP system, ensuring that planning records are current and precise.
  9. Issue purchase orders following the validation of MRP recommendations, considering budget constraints and demand forecasts.
  10. Oversee the requisitioning process, validating requirements and generating purchase orders for direct materials.
  11. Identify potential KANBAN opportunities and implement them as necessary.
  12. Manage KANBAN/Min-Max systems to ensure that manufacturing sites have the necessary materials for efficient operations.
  13. Collaborate with Strategic Sourcing on procurement activities and contract management.
  14. Monitor and ensure the timely delivery of purchase orders through effective order management tools.
  15. Address product complaints and resolutions through the Quality SCAR process.
  16. Support the introduction of new products by following a structured Stage Gate process.
  17. Compile, analyze, and maintain reports related to purchasing and inventory management.
Qualifications & Experience
  1. A degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field is preferred.
  2. Certifications such as APICS, CPIM, CSCP, or SCMAO are advantageous.
  3. A minimum of 3 years of experience in Inventory Management, Purchasing, or a related field, preferably in a manufacturing context.
  4. Strong understanding of Kanban systems/VMI and plant operations.
  5. Proven supply chain expertise with a focus on vendor management and strategic planning.
  6. Extensive experience with MRP systems.
  7. Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
  8. Experience with Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPS, and Macros is essential.
  9. Familiarity with PowerBI is considered a strong asset.
