Vancouver Pile Driving Ltd., a leading Canadian construction firm, is seeking a seasoned Chief Estimator to join our team. As a key member of our estimating department, you will play a crucial role in reviewing plans and specifications, creating bids, and evaluating cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities- Lead estimating teams to review project plans, create detailed estimates, and select vendors and subcontractors.
- Manage risk and contract-related tasks, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and project specifications.
- Assess design options and recommend the most cost-effective solutions.
- Supervise client addenda and guide the estimating team on changes during the estimation phase.
- Compare historical costs with current projections to inform project decisions.
- Provide insights on the overall construction plan, including schedule, constructability, and logistics.
- Evaluate and provide feedback on changes in specifications, plans, construction methods, and materials.
- Ensure all estimates comply with relevant codes, project specifications, blueprints, and standards.
- Review and finalize estimates.
- Manage awarded contracts, including estimating additional work items and advising on significant scope changes.
- Conduct post-project debriefings to identify successes and areas for improvement.
- Monitor actual expenditures against estimated costs.
- Minimum 12 years of experience in heavy civil construction, with a proven track record of successfully bidding and securing large-scale projects.
- Previous experience in marine construction is highly desirable.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Proficiency in software applications including Excel, HeavyBid, AutoCAD, and MS Project.
