Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Chief Estimator to lead our estimating team. The successful candidate will be responsible for making estimates for proposals, bids, and projects in progress, ensuring that the estimators in their group complete bids on time, and implementing data banks and bid priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Management: Supervise estimators, implement and update data banks, manage bid priorities, establish the bidding schedule, assess workload, identify risks and constraints, define subcontracting strategy, confirm costs, lead file transfer meetings, prepare bid reviews, establish lasting contacts with subcontractors and suppliers, participate in meetings, liaise with stakeholders, ensure bid quality, and comply with ISO processes.
  • Human Capital Management: Mentor and coach others, actively participate in career development, identify, attract, retain, and utilize top talent, mentor and develop staff, and plan for succession.
  • Strategic Planning: Focus on strategic objectives, ensure follow-up of actions, and engage employees.
Requirements
  • Hold a bachelor's degree in civil or construction engineering and/or equivalent experience and training.
  • Be a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC.
  • Have a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in estimating major projects and/or urban works.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Relevant experience in carrying out large-scale projects over $30 million.
