Laboratory Analyst - LC-MS/MS

(Full-time position)

As a Laboratory Analyst, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting routine analyses of environmental samples using Liquid Chromatography – Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) to identify contaminants of concern.
  • Generating precise and trustworthy analysis reports that ensure complete traceability of testing procedures.
  • Recognizing and interpreting unusual results, exercising sound judgment in determining necessary corrective actions and when to consult management.
  • Engaging in the development and validation of new analytical methods or enhancing existing methodologies.
  • Performing and documenting routine maintenance, calibration, and validation of laboratory instruments.
  • Ensuring that laboratory supplies and consumables are adequately stocked and accessible.
  • Executing all tasks in compliance with established quality protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Upholding and promoting strict adherence to corporate Quality, Health & Safety policies.
  • Proposing and assisting in the implementation of procedural and process improvements to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality.
  • Providing general laboratory support and undertaking additional responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor.

The ideal candidate for the Laboratory Analyst position will possess:

  • A university degree or college diploma in a scientific discipline, preferably chemistry, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • A strong theoretical and practical understanding of LC-MS/MS instrumentation and related chromatographic data systems.
  • Experience with liquid chromatography instrumentation and familiarity with various detectors (MS, UV, FL, IR) and their operational principles is advantageous.
  • Experience in handling and analyzing environmental sample matrices is a plus.
  • A willingness to learn and continuously enhance skills through training opportunities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, documentation, and report writing abilities.
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced laboratory environment with shifting and competing priorities.
  • Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and proficiency in MS Office applications.
