As a Laboratory Technician, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Conducting all tasks in compliance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure sample integrity and produce reliable, high-quality data.
- Preparing necessary reagents and analytical standards for sample extraction.
- Calibrating, verifying, and maintaining laboratory equipment and volumetric devices.
- Ensuring thorough documentation for complete traceability and task reconstruction.
- Collaborating with supervisors or senior chemists in the development and validation of new methodologies.
- Proposing and assisting in the implementation of procedural and process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Monitoring inventory levels of supplies and consumables essential for daily operations.
- Providing general laboratory support, including cleaning glassware and archiving samples.
- Upholding strict adherence to corporate Quality and Health & Safety standards.
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient work area.
- Performing additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisors.
The ideal candidate for the Laboratory Technician role will possess:
- A post-secondary diploma or degree in environmental or chemical science, or a related field.
- Previous experience in a laboratory setting.
- The ability to accurately interpret and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and instructions.
- Practical and/or theoretical knowledge of complex sample handling and extraction techniques, with experience in automated extraction equipment being advantageous.
- A commitment to continuous learning and skill enhancement through training.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and record-keeping abilities.
- A dynamic, motivated, and collaborative approach with a positive attitude.
