Position Overview:
BBA is in search of a Senior Mechanical Engineering Lead specializing in mining process plants to bolster our growth in Western Canada. The chosen candidate will be instrumental in all stages of engineering projects, from preliminary studies to field execution, with an emphasis on detailed engineering. As a senior figure within the mechanical engineering team, the individual will ensure technical excellence, identify new business prospects, and promote team development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate mechanical scopes of work, budgets, and proposals.
  • Conduct high-level engineering assessments on significant mechanical packages, including crushing and grinding circuits, flotation circuits, leaching circuits, and dewatering systems.
  • Oversee mechanical scope for conceptual design studies, pre-feasibility studies, feasibility studies, and detailed engineering.
  • Serve as a vital team member for both small and large brownfield/greenfield mining initiatives.
  • Engage in site visits, inspections, condition assessments, commissioning, and testing (site visits typically last 3-10 days at a time, with up to twenty-five days annually; these figures are negotiable during discussions).
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior and intermediate engineers, actively sharing expertise and fostering skill enhancement within the team.
  • Encourage a workplace culture that values enjoyment while delivering high-quality professional outputs.
  • Supervise process plant layout design: a significant asset.

  • Preference for a company focused on engineering rather than construction (BBA specializes in detailed engineering and EPCM projects; we do not engage in EPC projects).

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Demonstrated success with robust technical skills as a Mechanical Engineer on mineral processing plant projects.
  • Experience in base and precious metals is advantageous.
  • Capability to interpret PFDs and process design criteria from process engineering, oversee plant layouts, select mechanical equipment, evaluate technical bids, and validate pump sizing.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 12 years of relevant engineering experience in the mining industry, with a preference for at least 5 years in consulting.
  • Must hold a valid P.Eng registration in Canada.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Willingness to undertake site work and short-term assignments (3-10 days at a time, up to twenty-five days a year).
  • Site experience is considered a strong asset.

Compensation and Benefits:
BBA offers a competitive annual base salary, based on a 37.5-hour work week, ranging from $130,000 to $210,000, along with an annual bonification program for all regular employees. Additional benefits include:
