Position Overview:
BBA is currently in search of a Senior Mechanical Engineering Lead specializing in mining process plants to bolster our growth in Western Canada. The chosen candidate will be instrumental in all stages of engineering projects, from preliminary studies to field execution, with an emphasis on detailed engineering. As a senior figure within the mechanical engineering division, you will ensure technical excellence, cultivate new business prospects, and promote team development.
Your Responsibilities:
- Formulate mechanical scopes of work, budgets, and proposals.
- Conduct high-level engineering for significant mechanical packages, including crushing and grinding circuits, flotation circuits, leaching circuits, and dewatering systems.
- Oversee mechanical aspects of conceptual design studies, pre-feasibility studies, feasibility studies, and detailed engineering projects.
- Act as a key contributor for both small and large brownfield/greenfield mining initiatives.
- Engage in site visits, inspections, condition assessments, commissioning, and testing (site visits typically last 3-10 days at a time, with a maximum of twenty-five days per year; these figures are negotiable during discussions).
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior and intermediate engineers, sharing knowledge and enhancing team skills.
- Encourage a workplace culture that balances professionalism with enjoyment while delivering high-quality outputs.
- Oversee process plant layout design as a key asset.

Qualifications and Requirements:
- Demonstrated success with robust technical skills as a Mechanical Engineer on mineral processing plant projects.
- Experience in base and precious metals is advantageous.
- Proficient in interpreting PFDs and process design criteria, overseeing plant layouts, selecting mechanical equipment, evaluating technical bids, and validating pump sizing.
- University degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 12+ years of relevant engineering experience in the mining industry, with a preference for at least 5 years in a consulting role.
- Must hold a P.Eng registration in Canada.
- Possess a valid driver's license.
- Willingness to undertake site work and short-term assignments (3-10 days at a time, up to twenty-five days a year).
- Site experience is considered a significant advantage.
