Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clerical and administrative support to patients, families, and healthcare staff.
  • Function according to the job description for Business Clerks, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to achieve exceptional patient care.
  • Utilize Meditech, MS Exchange, MS Word, and CCIS to manage administrative tasks efficiently.
  • Develop and implement scheduling practices for union and non-union staff, ensuring compliance with collective agreements.
  • Interpret and apply human resource policies and procedures, maintaining confidentiality and discretion.
  • Set priorities and organize work to meet deadlines, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Communicate effectively with various hospital departments, fostering strong relationships and collaboration.
Requirements
  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Graduate of a community college secretarial or office administration program or equivalent office experience.
  • Critical Care services or Business Clerk experience preferred.
  • Medical Terminology Certificate 1 and 2 or demonstrated knowledge equivalent.
  • Keyboarding 40 WPM, subject to testing.
  • Demonstrated skill in using Meditech, MS Exchange, MS Word, and CCIS.
  • Knowledge of and ability to implement scheduling practices related to union and non-union staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and consistently apply human resource policies and procedures, collective agreement language.
  • Ability to set priorities and organize work accordingly.
  • Mathematical skills related to patient billing.
  • Demonstrated effective communication (verbal & written), interpersonal, public relations, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to appreciate the confidential nature of the position.
  • Ability to sit for long periods, repetitive reaching, repetitive bending.
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
