Position Overview:

The Director of Manufacturing Excellence will spearhead improvement initiatives at the Chatham Site. This role is pivotal in fostering a culture of continuous enhancement of processes and services. The Director will establish a framework for achieving results in each assigned project, ensuring food and employee safety is prioritized in daily operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with frontline staff to identify areas for improvement and mentor employees on enhancing efficiency.
  • Engage with production teams to address recurring customer complaints, operational errors, and standardize processes to boost first-time yields.
  • Guide teams in executing continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Define and develop essential tools and KPIs to meet established mandates.
  • Facilitate cross-functional working groups, including Kaizen events.
  • Support and engage in actions necessary to uphold quality standards.
  • Oversee and manage corporate improvement tools such as Team boards, 5S, and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Collaborate with other Continuous Improvement Specialists across the organization.
  • Prepare and present relevant reports and statistics to management and teams.
  • Lead by example, fostering a positive attitude and supporting Continuous Improvement and Production objectives.
  • Ensure adherence to all food and employee safety policies and procedures.

Essential Experience & Knowledge:

  • Proficient in Value Stream Mapping.
  • Familiarity with commonly used and specialized software.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Suite, particularly advanced Excel skills.
  • Demonstrated capability to thrive in fast-paced and dynamic environments.

About You:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering, with Six Sigma experience.
  • Three to five years of experience in manufacturing, with statistical proficiency (experience in food manufacturing is a plus).
  • Solid understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Experience in Change Management and Project Management.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, prioritize, and meet tight deadlines.
  • High level of computer literacy (Microsoft Office and SAP) with excellent written and verbal communication skills; proven ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Self-motivated with a strong initiative.
  • Knowledge of SAP is advantageous.
