Position Overview:
As the leader of our manufacturing and machine shop operations, you will be essential in managing all facets of our production activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee assembly operations, CNC programming and setup, metal fabrication, and mechanical design.
- Lead a team of skilled labourers, apprentices, and tradespeople, ensuring their work aligns with safety protocols and project timelines.
- Ensure the efficient operation of fabrication and assembly processes while upholding the highest quality standards.
- Implement and promote the principles of continuous improvement, holding team members accountable for these practices.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in CNC machining, particularly within a custom job shop setting. A solid understanding of welding techniques and metal fabrication principles is essential.
Success Metrics:
- Minimize injuries and errors during manufacturing processes.
- Foster employee skill development and operational efficiency, contributing to project profitability.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in programming, setting up, and operating CNC machines.
- Ability to create parts using Fusion 360 (3D Modelling) for production.
- In-depth knowledge of metal fabrication processes and quality standards, including MIG and TIG welding, fitting, and bending with hydraulic press brakes.
- Familiarity with conveyor systems to guide assembly crews effectively.
- Understanding of mechanical systems and basic engineering principles, including Solidworks.
Customer Interaction:
Engage with clients by taking site measurements, providing quotes for machining and fabrication projects, and managing orders throughout their lifecycle.
Project Management:
- Oversee ongoing shop projects and allocate manpower efficiently.
- Understand the impact of time and budgetary constraints on project management.
Safety Compliance:
- Provide safety guidance to all team members and ensure adherence to safety regulations.
- Possession of a trade license is advantageous.
- Training in Lift Truck operations, WHMIS, and Fall Arrest is considered an asset.
- First Aid certification is preferred.
Additional Skills:
- Demonstrated leadership and time management abilities.
- Red seal certification in Industrial Mechanic Millwright (433A) would be an asset.
