At Craig Keen Despatie Markell LLP, we are seeking a highly skilled Manager, Canadian Corporate Tax to join our team. As a trusted advisor, you will play a key role in delivering customized tax strategies to our clients, ensuring compliance with complex regulatory frameworks and minimizing risk.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead multiple client-facing engagement teams to complete tax engagements.
- Deliver industry and technical expertise in taxation and assurance through client interactions, reports, technical work, and high-quality deliverables.
- Evaluate existing business processes and policies, advising on policy and tax changes to develop proactive tax strategies.
- Liaise with Canada Revenue Agency and relevant provincial ministries on client issues.
- Prepare election forms required in corporate reorganizations.
- Assist in the management of personal and trust tax compliance seasons.
- Manage a portfolio of clients, understanding their business, key risks, and ways to deliver added value.
- Accountable for engagement planning, scheduling, and project financials, including budgets, WIPS, timely billing, collection, and variance recognition.
- Maintain high-quality control and apply specialized knowledge to anticipate, identify, and address issues relevant to the client's business, financial entries, and reports.
- Network in the local business community, consider business development opportunities, and contribute to the preparation and delivery of competitive proposals.
- Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes.
- Mentor, motivate, and coach team members towards professional and personal development.
- Completion of Level 1 of In-depth Tax Program and other specialist development courses.
- 4 to 5 years of relevant public accounting or tax consulting experience.
- Extensive working knowledge of Canadian Tax.
- Strong understanding of business, accounting, management, and practice development principles.
- Proven people management, relationship building, and leadership skills.
