Role Overview
The Talent Acquisition Specialist / Human Resources Coordinator is tasked with delivering confidential administrative support across various HR functions, including: recruitment, precise upkeep of employee records and filing systems, managing group benefits plans, interpreting legislation for the development and upkeep of internal policies, assisting with payroll processes, and offering mentorship and support for performance management, employee development, and retention strategies.
This role supports executive initiatives and collaborates with all organizational levels, promoting best practices and equal opportunity. As a vital team member, the incumbent is expected to consistently embody and encourage the organization's core corporate values.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with executive management and front-line leaders to establish and sustain an effective organizational structure and staffing through employee development, recruitment, and retention strategies, ensuring SpeedLine is recognized as the Employer of Choice. Conduct screening interviews across all departments and positions, coordinate second-round interviews as necessary, and perform reference and background checks for prospective hires. Assist in the creation and administration of, and provide guidance to, the management team for: Performance management initiatives, including performance success plans, progressive discipline, and documentation up to and including termination. Employee engagement strategies and processes that align with the corporate business plan, including orientation and onboarding practices. Research and ensure compliance with government legislation for both Canada and the US; participate in communicating updates. Develop and manage return-to-work programs and related policies. Ensure compensation equity for current and prospective roles. Create job profiles and descriptions. Serve as a resource for employees at all levels regarding employment policies, legislation, and human rights; facilitate conflict resolution or investigation meetings as needed; maintain the Employee Handbook. Perform administrative duties such as reviewing employment documents, preparing for new hires, managing employee orientation and termination paperwork, conducting exit surveys, and overseeing employee recognition programs. Act as the program administrator for all benefits-related tasks, including enrollment, updates, and inquiries. Design and implement comprehensive recruiting strategies, including creating related materials and advertisements, building relationships with educational institutions, and providing analytical reports. Provide administrative support for various business functions, including backup for Accounts Payable and Petty Cash reconciliation, ordering office supplies, and maintaining customer filing systems.Required Skills:
A minimum of 3 years of experience in a hands-on Human Resources and Recruitment role. Demonstrated knowledge of HR & Recruitment best practices and procedures. At least 1 year of post-secondary education in Human Resources. Certification as a Human Resources Professional (CHRP) is preferred. Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with a commitment to confidentiality. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently and build professional relationships at all levels. Proficient in Microsoft Office with demonstrated accurate typing skills. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and administrative abilities, including proofreading and editing. Positive, proactive, self-motivated, and results-driven. Capable of serving as an interface for the organization. Proven excellence in writing policies and performance management documents. Quick learner with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Comfortable working independently or as part of a team. Knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and processes is essential; understanding of U.S. payroll legislation is a plus.About Us
