About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health organization is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health Services Manager to lead the operation, functioning, and quality of assigned Primary Health Care (PHC) programs and services. This role will engage primary health care, acute and tertiary care, public health, leadership community, clinical teams, and community partners to support the mission, vision, values, and policies of the organization.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the development, implementation, operation, and evaluation of a primary health care program and initiatives within the zone and across the province. This will involve leading self and overseeing multiple strategic change projects and initiatives, engaging others through partnerships to achieve results that facilitate system transformation and the development of strategic goals and objectives.

The Health Services Manager will be responsible for aligning program leadership, human resource management, fiscal management, and the development and assurance of professional standards with the established standards of the quality mandate in Primary Health Care.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with a baccalaureate degree from a health discipline or experience in a healthcare setting. A master's degree is preferred, and current registration with the relevant college/association is required. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5-7 years of recent and related leadership/management experience in a healthcare setting.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in initiating and managing multiple projects, working in a unionized environment, and possessing knowledge of primary health care, health promotion, health determinants, and dynamics of health needs in a rural community. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work collaboratively with various professional and community individuals, are essential.

The Health Services Manager will be responsible for program development, project management, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation in community settings. They will also work with physicians and stakeholders across multiple governance structures to establish and sustain strong collaborative family practice teams.

The ideal candidate will have a high level of sound judgment, initiative, and self-direction to make independent decisions related to responsibilities. They will also have the ability to work with a diverse group of stakeholders, including physicians, nurses, and community partners, to achieve shared goals and objectives.

The Health Services Manager will be responsible for promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness, and organizational health. They will also be responsible for ensuring that all programs and services are delivered in a way that is respectful and inclusive of diverse populations.

Hours
  • Permanent Full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
  • Shifts may include weekends, evenings, and holidays
