About the Role

Empower Simcoe is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance and Operations Director to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership to our financial and operational functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with the CEO and Board of Directors to develop and implement organizational strategy
  • Oversee financial planning and monitoring, ensuring compliance with government regulations and agency standards
  • Provide financial information to the Board of Directors to support their decision-making
  • Develop and manage budgets for all services, ensuring effective allocation of financial resources
  • Lead the development and implementation of financial systems and processes
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Information Technology and Administrative Services teams
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including community organizations and service providers
  • Mentor and develop staff, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed
  • Participate in agency-wide succession planning and develop strategies to ensure continuity of leadership
Requirements
  • University degree in Business Management or Accounting, plus a Professional Accounting designation (e.g. CMA, CGA, CA)
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a senior management role, preferably in a human services environment
  • Extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Not-for-Profit Accounting Standards
  • Strong leadership, collaborative, and communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving, delegation, and decision-making skills
  • Strong strategic management and team-building skills
  • Proven ability to manage in a unionized environment
  • Detail-oriented and deadline-driven
  • Advanced knowledge of computer applications and accounting software
