About the Role

Cowan Insurance Group is seeking a highly skilled Sales Research and Business Development Coordinator to join our Commercial Lines Sales Team. This role reports directly to the Commercial Sales Manager in Business Development and is responsible for identifying and pursuing sales opportunities, coordinating sales appointments, and providing support to the sales teams to drive results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development and implementation of the Commercial Lines and Group Benefits business strategy, focusing on mid to large organizations.
  • Conduct research to identify prospective clients with existing business relationships and connections, and plan strategies for next steps.
  • Work closely with senior management to develop segment strategies for growing brand recognition and acquiring new clients within core industry sectors.
  • Identify new internal and external referral sources and centers-of-influence.
  • Coordinate with Commercial Account Executives and Group Benefits Consultants to schedule new client meetings.
  • Conduct research to identify new markets and customer needs.
  • Arrange business meetings with prospective clients when appropriate.
  • Build long-term relationships with clients, colleagues, and community partners.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Business Development Representative, Sales Executive, or similar role.
  • Knowledge of insurance and/or group benefits is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM software (e.g. Salesforce).
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to build rapport and establish strong relationships.
  • Strong time management and planning skills.
  • Analytical skills to translate data into actionable information.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, sales, or a relevant field, or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience with ZoomInfo is an asset.
