Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Recreation Therapist to join our team at Coast Mental Health. As a Recreation Therapist, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with mental health challenges, providing a safe and inclusive environment for them to engage in recreational activities and develop essential life skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement recreation therapy plans that cater to the diverse needs and interests of clients, promoting their physical and emotional well-being.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care and support for clients, incorporating evidence-based practices and trauma-informed care principles.
  • Design and deliver recreation programs that foster social connections, community engagement, and personal growth, aligning with Coast Mental Health's client-centered approach.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to recreation assistants, students, and volunteers, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and research in recreation therapy, applying this knowledge to enhance client outcomes and program effectiveness.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or a related field from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • At least two years of experience working in a mental health setting, with a focus on recreation therapy and client-centered care.
  • Eligibility for membership in the British Columbia Therapeutic Recreation Association (BCTRA).
