Job Title: Postdoctoral Research and Teaching Fellow

Position Overview:

The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at The University of British Columbia is seeking a qualified candidate for a full-time Postdoctoral Research and Teaching Fellow position. This role is pivotal in spearheading the design, execution, and evaluation of an innovative pedagogical framework aimed at enhancing Engineering curricula. The focus will be on integrating sustainability and equity, diversity, inclusion, and Indigeneity (EDII) principles into new learning modules and the reformation of existing courses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement EDII and sustainability-focused modules for current courses.
  • Revise and create content for large-scale Professional Practice courses in engineering.
  • Conduct literature reviews on EDII and sustainability teaching methodologies to identify best practices.
  • Establish robust evaluation strategies for assessing EDII and sustainability learning outcomes.
  • Manage data collection and analysis to assess the effectiveness of developed content and teaching methods.
  • Utilize software tools to organize and analyze both qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Prepare manuscripts for publication in relevant engineering education conferences, journals, and workshops.
  • Participate in and present research findings at engineering education conferences.

Qualifications:

  • A PhD in any engineering discipline (including engineering education), obtained within the last five years.
  • Experience in teaching within a post-secondary educational environment (e.g., as an instructor or teaching assistant).
  • Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to EDI, indigeneity/decolonization, and sustainability, preferably within an engineering context.
  • Aspirations for a career in post-secondary teaching and learning in engineering.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in developing curricular content.
  • Background in creating and implementing innovative teaching strategies.
  • Familiarity with supporting literature in the relevant fields.
