Job Summary:

The primary objective of this hybrid position is to lead a team of engineers responsible for the design, launch, and sustainability of one or more product categories sold by Masco Canada Limited.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the team in achieving group deliverables and drive project success.
  • Coach and mentor team members, reviewing and approving their work.
  • Assign projects to team members, creating strategies to grow individual members and lead complex projects to achieve business objectives.
  • Adjust team priorities to achieve business targets for each category, including New Product Development, Product Engineering, and Value Engineering.
  • Identify project risks and develop action plans to mitigate or eliminate risks.
  • Develop and create drawings from proposal to final design, including tolerance, fits, GD&T, dimensional stack-up, and surface finishes.
  • Develop testing and verification testing requirements.
  • Create design verification and report (DVP&R) and failure mode effect analysis (FMEA).
  • Prepare reports as requested.
  • Maintain proper filing of project information.
  • Ensure accuracy of bill of materials.
  • Be a critical member of the cross-functional team for changing existing products or launching new products.
  • Lead more complex and technical projects within the Product Engineering Team.
  • Maintain a safe work environment.
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment as required on the shop floor.
  • Comply with company policies and the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Follow safe work and lockout/tagout procedures as required.
  • Report unsafe conditions promptly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • University or college graduate of a Mechanical Engineering program or related field, meeting the academic requirements for registration with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (P.Eng.) or the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (CET).
  • P. Eng. designation is an asset.
  • A minimum of 10 years of engineering experience in a product design and manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge and experience with various manufacturing processes and materials, such as injection molding, casting, machining, assembly, and component cleaning.
  • Strong project and time management skills, with experience handling multiple projects.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision, be self-motivated, and work in a multidisciplinary team environment as well as individually.
  • Experience with redesigning components for cost reduction or product improvements.
  • Knowledge of value engineering techniques and software would be advantageous.
  • Capable of modifying or designing products and developing prototypes, with hands-on experience to oversee proof of design.
  • Strong 3D modeling and detail design skills in Pro Engineer Wild Fire 2, Creo, or similar CAD programs.
  • Knowledgeable with PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and a working knowledge of JDE and Teamcenter or similar MRP and vault systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to use product and component development practices such as design verification plan and report (DVP&R) and failure mode effect analysis (FMEA).
  • Familiar with Canadian and US codes and standards, such as the National Building Code and the CSA B125 standards for plumbing.
  • Experience in creating engineering change bulletins and analyzing and modifying bill of materials.
  • Familiar with technical information received from external suppliers, such as material specifications, test methods, and capable of interpreting drawings.
  • Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Occasional travel to the USA may be required.
