Key Responsibilities:
  • Promote and support Health & Safety programs to increase employee awareness
  • Maintain a communications program to keep your team informed regarding mill and department priorities
  • Support compliance with collective agreement and sound union/management/employee relations
  • Build and maintain business relationships with stakeholders, understand their needs, and play a key role in realizing their business objectives
  • Assist and coach managers and supervisory teams in employee management and HR policies
  • Participate in identifying training needs for staff and unionized employees
  • Oversee and report on Site Absenteeism Management Program
  • Manage scheduling, vacation management, and overtime standards
  • Provide consistent interpretation and counsel for collective agreements
  • Coach managers and supervisory teams on disciplinary processes
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in preparation of negotiations
  • Provide regular reviews of workforce requirements and forecast job vacancies
  • Actively participate in the recruiting process and provide Labour Status Reports
  • Lead and participate in the onboarding program for new and seasonal employees
  • Conduct exit interviews with employees leaving the Company
  • Apply and ensure effective implementation of HR policies and procedures
  • Assist and support return-to-work initiatives and STD/LTD Claims/Submissions
  • Keep up-to-date with HR trends and regulation changes
  • Collaborate and participate in special projects as assigned
  • Act as Management Representation on various Joint-Committees
  • Provide Human Resources support to Site's General Manager
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Industrial Relations, or Business Administration
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) is an asset
  • 5+ years of experience in an industrial unionized environment
  • Business acumen, sound judgment, strong analytical skills, and ability to multi-task
  • Leadership, interpersonal, and communications skills
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and best practices
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Human Resources Information System (HRIS)
  • Bilingual: English and French (spoken and written) – an asset
