Role Overview
The available position is for a Bid Manager within the Hydro Automation and Electrical Power Systems (AT & EPS) proposal team. This team is tasked with preparing technical and commercial bids for hydro projects, encompassing small, medium, and complex projects, as well as spare parts and engineering service quotations, typically in response to client Requests for Proposals (direct sales) or internal requests from other ANDRITZ divisions (indirect sales). The Bid Manager plays a pivotal role in this team, holding the overall responsibility for delivering a comprehensive and competitive proposal to our clients. This is achieved by leading specialists (Subject Matter Experts - SMEs) as the principal leader of the proposal being developed. The Bid Manager is accountable for the overall commercial and technical integration of our offering.
The Bid Manager is responsible for the entire proposal process and is expected to collaborate closely with SMEs, Commercial Managers, and the Legal team to ensure the proposal's completeness and quality. Specific responsibilities may include:
- Leading the assigned proposal team members as the primary leader.
- Defining the bid structure and establishing effective communication channels.
- Creating and adhering to a proposal schedule.
- Facilitating and guiding decision-making within the proposal team on strategic matters such as partner selection and procurement strategy.
- Negotiating and forming partnerships/consortiums with external entities.
- Establishing a winning strategy with management support, validating it throughout the proposal process, and ensuring adherence by the proposal team.
- Assigning ownership of essential proposal elements and tracking progress against the proposal schedule.
- Assisting in preparing the preliminary project schedule to ensure a realistic execution plan for client evaluation.
- Organizing and leading necessary internal meetings per ANDRITZ Proposal Management Processes.
- Developing the recommended selling price based on assembled costs and identified risks.
- Conducting technical risk analysis and preparing mitigation plans for potential project execution risks.
- Challenging supporting teams on proposed solutions and costs.
- Acting as the main technical point of contact for clients during proposal preparation, clarification, and negotiations.
- Preparing internal bid approval applications for upper management.
- Representing the proposal and the proposal team to local management and customers.
- Submitting the offer and participating in client negotiations, including contract signing.
- Updating all key proposal documents to reflect the final agreement.
- Ensuring a seamless transition to the execution team upon contract award.

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in sales and/or marketing within the hydropower generation or similar industry (automation, power generation, or conversion systems, substations, etc.).
- Proven success in securing orders and building customer relationships in a similar environment.
- Familiarity with commercial and contractual specifications.
- Project Management skills with the ability to manage multiple complex tasks daily.
- Effective communication skills (oral & written) in a multi-stakeholder environment.
- Demonstrated leadership ability within a team context.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, initiative, and creativity.
- Knowledge of commercial contracts and strong negotiation skills.
- Good technical presentation skills.
- Familiarity with products, technical aspects, and market related to the hydroelectric sector is an asset.
- One (1) year of experience or internship in control/protection systems engineering within the hydro or similar industry is a significant plus.
