Oncology Clinical Pharmacist

As a vital member of the healthcare team, the Oncology Clinical Pharmacist engages in specialized pharmaceutical care within an oncology setting. This role encompasses the customization of medication therapies based on comprehensive patient assessments, collaboration with healthcare professionals, and the provision of educational resources to both patients and staff. The pharmacist is also responsible for the preparation and distribution of medications, ensuring compliance with established regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customize medication therapies for patients by reviewing medical records, evaluating clinical outcomes through patient interactions, and collaborating with healthcare teams to formulate tailored therapeutic strategies.
  • Engage with patients and healthcare providers to ensure optimal medication management, including the development of discharge plans and medication schedules, while addressing patient inquiries and supporting adherence to treatment plans.
  • Prepare and dispense medications in accordance with legal and professional standards to guarantee safe and effective pharmaceutical care.
  • Deliver comprehensive drug information to physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, as well as to patients through personalized counseling sessions.
  • Assist in securing necessary medications not covered by standard benefits by providing information and liaising with patients and external agencies regarding financial assistance options.
  • Mentor pharmacy students and residents, fostering their professional development through guidance and supervision.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy with active registration as a Licensed Pharmacist.
  • Completion of a Hospital Pharmacy Residency Program.
  • A minimum of one year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and training.

  • Proficiency in aseptic techniques and safe handling of hazardous medications.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work autonomously.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with diverse teams.
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Physical capability to perform the duties associated with the role.
  • Familiarity with relevant equipment and technology.
  • Commitment to understanding and implementing principles of Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism.
