Role Overview:

The Lead Systems Engineer is responsible for maintaining and supporting the seamless operation of the entire SARC/SARCAN computer network infrastructure and associated electronic communication devices, ensuring minimal network downtime.

This role provides comprehensive support to junior systems administrators and limited assistance to end-users and remote users of the network.


Network Infrastructure Responsibilities:

This includes the installation, management, and maintenance of computer servers, such as domain, email, print, and backup servers; managing and ensuring the optimal operation of all related network equipment, including routers, switches, hubs, and UPS; administering user accounts, rights, and permissions as necessary; and preparing documentation for all aspects of network installations.

Maintaining current network images of servers and ensuring offsite backups are conducted is essential.

Contributing to security-related projects as needed and attending training and workshops is also part of the role.


Qualifications:

To excel as a Lead Systems Engineer at SARCAN Recycling, you will need:

  • A degree in computer science or an equivalent field, along with ten years of relevant experience in IT infrastructure and applications.
  • Global Information Assurance Certification and Certified Windows System Administrator (GCWN) certification are advantageous.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, PenTest+, Server+, and A+ are considered assets.
  • Familiarity with M365 Office Suite training/certification is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in Active Directory and Windows Server.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 admin console and M365 environment.
  • Knowledge of Windows PowerShell Scripting.
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and testing data backup strategies.
  • Experience with SharePoint and hardware configurations from Fortinet, Meraki, and Unitrends is a plus.
  • Experience in setting up and troubleshooting AV equipment is also an asset.
  • A willingness to learn new technical systems as required.
