We are seeking a highly skilled Operations Technologist - Engineering Approvals to join our team at Halifax Water. As a key member of our Engineering Approvals department, you will be responsible for ensuring the installation of Service Connections and appurtenances adheres to our requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Inspect installations of Water, Wastewater and Stormwater Service Connections and appurtenances attaching to, or part of, the Halifax Water Systems.
- Collect, produce and retrieve record information associated with Water, Wastewater and Stormwater Service Connections and appurtenances attaching to, or part of, the Halifax Water Systems.
- Ensure installations of Water, Wastewater and Stormwater Service Connections and appurtenances adhere to the requirements of Halifax Water.
- Review and complete Service Connection cards for adherence to the Halifax Water Design Specification and Supplementary Standard Specifications.
- Review acceptance packages for adherence to the Halifax Water Design Specification and Supplementary Standard Specifications.
- Assist in the locating of the Halifax Water infrastructure as requested.
- Input record information into Halifax Water databases.
- Liaise with customers, developers, consultants, contractors, Halifax Water staff and other outside agencies.
- Undertake Halifax Water Systems inspections, testing, commissioning as required.
- Post-Secondary diploma in Civil Engineering Technology with Certified Engineering Technologist designation.
- Minimum five years of experience in a municipal engineering field.
- Registered member with TechNova as a Certified Engineering Technologist.
- Valid Nova Scotia Driver's License.
- Willingness to undertake and maintain safety training.
- Thorough knowledge of Halifax Water's Rules and Regulations, Design Specification and Supplementary Standard Specification.
- Knowledge of Provincial and Municipal acts, by-laws, and legislation relating to the installation of Service Connections and appurtenances.
- Knowledge of national, provincial and municipal standards, specifications, policies and guidelines.
- Ability to manage change.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
- Ability to use municipal engineering computer applications and Global Position Systems data collection.
As a member of our team, you will be working in a fast-paced environment with a focus on delivering high-quality results. You will be required to work independently and as part of a team to achieve our goals.
