This position is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the existing safety initiatives while collaborating with various stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in safety management and a commitment to ensuring a secure work environment.
Your responsibilities include:
- Staying informed about updates to the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and related regulations, providing recommendations for their effective implementation.
- Monitoring compliance with the company’s safety protocols.
- Facilitating safety meetings and ensuring thorough documentation and record-keeping.
- Offering guidance to regional teams on safety-related regulations and requirements.
- Coordinating safety inspections and activities across departments.
- Conducting research on occupational safety to implement the best practices for minimizing workplace hazards.
- Tracking safety certifications, conducting audits, and reporting findings to management.
- Drafting various safety-related documents, including policies, procedures, safety communications, and internal memos.
Qualifications for success:
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 2 years in an administrative or coordination role.
- At least 1 year of experience in a safety-related position is preferred.
- Strong research skills.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
- Capability to respond effectively in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with corporate departments and staff.
- Proficiency in the entire MS Office suite.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.
- Willingness to travel as required.
