Safety Manager

Sharp Trucking Services is seeking an experienced Safety Manager to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with legislation and safety programs, policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Compliance and Risk Management: Work with management to monitor compliance with federal, provincial, and local safety laws and regulations, ensuring the company adheres to all current safety standards.
- Safety Program Development: Coordinate and implement safety programs and policies, providing training to truck and trailer drivers on traffic and safety regulations, as well as equipment care.
- Driver Onboarding and Coaching: Conduct driving assessments, implement training on trip inspection, hours of service, weights and dimensions, and cargo, and coach drivers on compliance obligations and health and safety responsibilities.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor reports, including carrier profiles, GPS reports, and log audits, to ensure driver compliance with legislation and identify areas for improvement.
- Incident Investigation and Analysis: Investigate incidents, accidents, and violations, and implement initiatives to reduce reoccurrences.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with management to establish compliance goals, participate in safety meetings, and communicate effectively with workers, government agencies, and the public.
- Experience: 5+ years of related experience in health and safety, with a valid Class 1 License.
- Knowledge and Skills: Advanced knowledge of National Safety Code and Standards, health and safety legislation, hazard recognition, assessment, and control, and time management skills.
- Personal Qualities: Highly motivated, team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a demonstrated passion for safety excellence.
