Job Summary

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Medical Technologist 3 to join the team at Heiltsuk Hospital in Bella Bella, BC. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership and expertise in the provisioning of Laboratory and Diagnostic Services for the Central Coast.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and expertise in the provisioning of Laboratory and Diagnostic Services for the Central Coast.
  • Participate in the planning and coordination of services; monitor the quality of technical work performed to ensure departmental standards are met and safety procedures are followed.
  • Schedule staff activities and participate in recruitment and performance management; train and coach team members.
  • Facilitate workplace solutions and the implementation of new techniques and procedures.
  • Perform a variety of routine/complex tests utilizing manual and automated procedures/instruments, when required.
  • Supervise at least one (1) other Medical Technologist and a total staff of up to and including seven (7) FTE.

About the Role

The Medical Technologist 3 will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, providing technical leadership and expertise in the provisioning of Laboratory and Diagnostic Services for the Central Coast. The successful candidate will have a strong background in medical laboratory technology and experience in a supervisory capacity.

Requirements

  • Certified by the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS).
  • Bachelor of Science degree or an Advanced Registered certificate or completion of a supervisory/management program.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' recent, related experience including two (2) years' experience in a supervisory capacity, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Regular travel within the Central Coast is required. Expenses will be reimbursed as per the Collective Agreement.
