Construction Project Coordinator – (full-time)

Westview Projects is a reputable general contracting firm that operates within the Eastern Ontario region. With its headquarters in Ottawa, the company is dedicated to providing exceptional construction management services tailored to institutional, multi-residential, commercial, and retail sectors.

As a key member of the Operations Team, the Construction Project Coordinator is tasked with distributing the primary contract to the project team for effective execution. This role involves meticulous planning, scheduling, organizing, and evaluating projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, specifications, and budgetary constraints. The Coordinator plays a crucial role in overseeing and addressing any deficiencies, guaranteeing that the team performs efficiently and that the project reaches a successful conclusion.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee project performance, including monitoring schedules, costs, equipment, workforce, materials, safety protocols, and quality assurance.
  2. Foster and maintain strong relationships with the project team, subcontractors, architects, consultants, and clients.
  3. Coordinate the overall construction effort to ensure compliance with design, budget, and schedule.
  4. Engage in project planning and execution activities.
  5. Conduct site visits, safety assessments, and lead by example to uphold policies, procedures, and standards.
  6. Ensure thorough project close-out processes.
  7. Facilitate project meetings effectively.
  8. Mentor, guide, supervise, and evaluate the performance of direct reports and team members.
  9. Assist in securing new projects by participating in estimates, collaborating with subcontractors, and contributing to proposals and presentations.
  10. Lead negotiations regarding claims and disputes with stakeholders.
  11. Perform additional duties as necessary.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. A post-secondary diploma or degree in engineering or construction management.
  2. A minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in construction, including leadership and mentoring roles.
  3. Proficient understanding of various construction methods, sequencing, problem-solving, and timelines.
  4. Familiarity with construction project management software, including Jonas Premier, Plan Grid, and Blue Beam.
  5. Knowledge of applicable construction laws and building codes.
  6. Ability to troubleshoot construction-related issues, including sequencing and staffing challenges.
  7. Preferred experience in estimating for at least one year.
  8. Capacity to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  9. Ability to comprehend and utilize engineering/construction plans, specifications, methods, and procedures.
  10. Strong oral and written communication skills.
  11. Ability to cultivate positive working relationships with a diverse range of individuals, including owners, managers, designers, supervisors, and tradespeople.
  12. Strong multitasking and prioritization abilities.
  13. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
