Waste Connections of Canada Inc. is a leading provider of non-hazardous solid waste management services in North America. We are seeking an experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team at our Ottawa facility.

Job Summary:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty equipment to ensure optimal performance and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of equipment to identify potential issues and implement preventive maintenance measures.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Develop and implement effective maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior technicians to ensure knowledge transfer and skill development.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, lubrications, and tune-ups, according to manufacturer recommendations and company policies.
  • Diagnose and repair complex equipment issues, including electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Develop and implement effective maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior technicians to ensure knowledge transfer and skill development.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of heavy-duty equipment maintenance and repair principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment:

  • Work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with frequent exposure to dust, fumes, and hazardous conditions.
  • Occasional exposure to chemicals, solvents, grease, and oil.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with a focus on safety and efficiency.
