Position Overview

Under the supervision of a Manager/Supervisor, this role is dedicated to providing personalized assistance to individuals as outlined in their support plans.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with local businesses, non-profit entities, and community stakeholders to advocate for the Career Connection initiatives, assess workforce demands, and work alongside the Career Connection Team to fulfill those requirements.

Facilitate connections between individuals receiving support and job or volunteer placements within the community.

Deliver tailored on-the-job assistance that aligns with the individual's strengths, support needs, and placement.

Foster and sustain professional relationships with local businesses, non-profit organizations, and community partners.

Advocate for community inclusion, autonomy, and self-determination for individuals receiving support.

Contribute both directly and indirectly to the personal support plans of individuals.

Assist individuals in identifying employment or volunteering opportunities that align with their personal goals and outcomes.

Promote self-expression among individuals supported, utilizing knowledge of both verbal and non-verbal communication methods, including alternative communication systems.

Collaborate effectively with colleagues, individuals supported, and their families to address challenges and resolve conflicts.

Implement techniques and understand principles related to non-violent crisis intervention (CPI).

Required Qualifications

A diploma in Developmental Services Work (preferred), or Social Services Work, or Child and Youth Work, along with a minimum of one year of experience working or volunteering with individuals with intellectual disabilities.

A valid Ontario Driver's License (Class G or G2) is required, along with access to a reliable vehicle and appropriate insurance.

Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills (verbal, non-verbal, written) are essential.

Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and engage with families as needed.

Proficiency in a PC environment, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and other relevant software.

A current Standard First Aid / Level A CPR Certificate is mandatory.

Bilingualism in English/French or other languages is considered an asset.

Equivalency Consideration

A university degree combined with a minimum of one year of experience working or volunteering with individuals with intellectual disabilities will also be considered.
