Position Overview
The Infrastructure and Network Operations Expert will take charge of the installation, configuration, administration, and documentation of all Windows and Linux server infrastructure components within the Kohl & Frisch ecosystem. This role demands intermediate to senior-level expertise in server architecture, troubleshooting, and a solid grasp of IT Security. The individual will spearhead projects related to servers, applications, and Microsoft Azure, providing hands-on technical support to ensure the reliability of all systems critical to business operations.
Location: Concord, ON
Hybrid Work Model: Onsite 3 days a week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Server Management: Oversee the complete lifecycle management of Windows and Linux servers, including installation, configuration, administration, maintenance, and performance enhancement to ensure robust and secure server operations.
  • Data Backup Management: Ensure data integrity by meticulously managing backup systems, performing regular backups, troubleshooting issues, and validating recovery protocols.
  • Documentation and Training: Create thorough documentation for all operational processes and conduct training sessions to ensure team proficiency in established practices.
  • System Monitoring and Maintenance: Develop and implement maintenance strategies to keep systems operating at peak efficiency, monitor system health, and proactively address any performance issues.
  • Security Monitoring: Actively monitor security events using SIEM tools, collaborating with internal and external teams to address and mitigate potential threats.
  • Change Management: Engage in the Change Management process, advocating for necessary system updates and maintenance to keep infrastructure current and competitive.
  • Network Hardware Management: Install and manage essential network hardware devices, including firewalls, routers, switches, and access points, to maintain a stable and scalable network environment.
  • Network Performance Improvement: Continuously assess and identify opportunities for enhancements in network hardware and configurations to boost overall performance and reliability.
  • AS400 Systems Management: Ensure the effective management of AS400 systems, including regular backups, timely updates, and the resilience of network operations.
  • On-Call Support: Provide after-hours support, including weekends, to resolve critical technical issues as they arise.
  • IT Infrastructure Setup and Troubleshooting: Travel to various sites as needed to apply expertise in setting up, configuring, and troubleshooting IT infrastructure, ensuring consistent operations across all locations.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in network administration with a comprehensive understanding of network infrastructure, server management, and security protocols.
  • Expertise in managing both Windows and Linux server environments, focusing on high availability and optimal performance.
  • Experience in configuring, managing, and troubleshooting backup systems, with a strong commitment to data preservation.
  • Skilled in creating detailed process documentation and delivering effective training on best practices.
  • Proficient in using SIEM tools for proactive security monitoring and resolution coordination.
  • Involved in change management processes with a keen eye for identifying necessary system improvements.
  • Hands-on experience with various network hardware devices and a proactive approach to enhancing network performance.
  • Familiarity with AS400 system support, ensuring seamless integration within the network infrastructure.
  • Availability for on-call support outside standard business hours and willingness to travel as necessary for IT infrastructure projects.
Education and Experience
  • College diploma, university degree, or equivalent experience in IT system administration.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience working with enterprise server infrastructure.
  • Experience troubleshooting Windows and Linux servers.
  • Azure Certifications are preferred.
  • Additional certifications such as CCNA, NSE 4, or Azure are advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Experience with Radius servers and AS400 systems.
  • Familiarity with Cisco and Fortinet technologies.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory, DHCP, and DNS.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, O365, MS Defender, and Intune.
  • Understanding of backup and storage solutions.
