Mechanical Design Lead

Job Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate drawings, industry best practices, and designs with the mechanical team.
  • Delegate and oversee tasks within the department.
  • Collaborate with the mechanical team to develop, manage, and uphold project timelines and deadlines.
  • Produce 3D models and drawings of new components for manufacturing.
  • Generate assemblies and drawings of products utilizing Solidworks.
  • Modify designs and drawings based on internal assessments and client feedback.
  • Innovate new designs to fulfill and surpass customer expectations based on technical specifications.
  • Design lighting systems for locomotives and rail passenger vehicles.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 5-8 years of experience in Mechanical Design.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • Proficiency in parametric modeling using CAD software; Solidworks experience is advantageous.
  • Experience with sheet metal design in Solidworks.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes including CNC Machining, Sheet Metal, Metal & Plastic Extruding, Fabrication, and 3D printing.
  • Understanding of GD&T principles.
  • Basic knowledge of electronics and PCBs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and innovative thinking.
  • Experience in optical design is a plus.

Educational Background:

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology (Design) or a University degree in Mechanical Engineering.
