Job Summary:

The Mechanical Design Team Lead will be responsible for leading the mechanical design team in the development of comprehensive interior and exterior lighting systems for rail applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design, experience in supervisory roles, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Development: Lead the design and development of new lighting systems for locomotive and rail passenger vehicles, ensuring compliance with technical requirements and customer needs.
  • Team Management: Assign and monitor tasks within the department, working closely with the mechanical team to develop and maintain project schedules and deadlines.
  • Design Review: Review drawings, best practices, and designs with the mechanical team, ensuring adherence to company standards and customer requirements.
  • Design Optimization: Develop new designs to meet and exceed customer needs, based on technical requirements and manufacturing processes.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, engineering, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless design-to-manufacturing processes.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Education: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology (Design) or University degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience: 5-8 years of experience as a Mechanical Designer, with 3-5 years of experience in supervisory roles.
  • Skills: Parametric modeling in CAD software, Solidworks; experience with sheet metal in Solidworks; knowledge of GD&T; basic understanding of electronics/PCBs; knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Personal Qualities: Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent capacity for synthesis analysis and innovation.
