Bridges of Canada Inc. is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Parish Priest to lead our faith community in a correctional facility setting. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing spiritual guidance, support, and education to inmates and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct Religious Services: Lead worship services, sermons, and other spiritual activities to promote faith and spirituality among inmates and staff.
- Supervise Office and Volunteer Staff: Oversee the daily operations of the office and supervise volunteer staff to ensure efficient and effective support to the faith community.
- Administer Rites of Faith: Perform marriages, funerals, and other rites of faith with dignity and respect, providing comfort and support to those in need.
- Supervise, Plan, and Administer Programs: Develop and implement programs of religious education, ensuring they meet the spiritual needs of inmates and staff.
- Pray and Promote Spirituality: Deliver sermons, talks, and other spiritual messages to promote faith, hope, and healing among the faith community.
- Administrative and Office Activities: Perform administrative tasks, such as record-keeping, reporting, and communication, to support the smooth operation of the office.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as theology, divinity, or a related field.
- Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a correctional facility setting.
- Security Clearance: Confidential security clearance is required.
- Physical Capabilities: Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, with occasional lifting and bending.
- Personal Suitability: Excellent interpersonal skills, judgment, and ability to work as a team player.
This is a permanent, part-time position, working 7 to 23 hours per month. The work language is English, and the work term is permanent.
