Job Opportunity: Planning Services Manager

The Peace River Regional District is seeking a highly skilled Planning Services Manager to join their team. As a key member of the Development Services department, this role will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day planning staff and providing guidance on technical matters related to development applications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and direct planning staff to ensure efficient and effective processing of development applications.
  • Provide expert advice and counsel to stakeholders on planning matters.
  • Lead and manage long-range planning activities, including the development of Official Community Plans.
  • Manage the public consultation process and collect and analyze data and survey results.
  • Assist with human resource management practices and coach and mentor planning staff.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary degree in land use planning or a related discipline.
  • Several years of related experience, preferably in a local government setting.
  • A Registered Professional Planner with membership or eligibility for membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) is an asset.
  • A sound knowledge of planning principles, practices, and techniques.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to set priorities and manage work demands.
