Location Overview
NHH is situated approximately 100 kilometers east of Toronto, serving a vibrant community with a wide array of acute, post-acute, outpatient, and diagnostic services. We cater to a growing population of over 60,000 residents across urban and rural areas, employing around 750 staff members supported by a dedicated network of physicians, midwives, and volunteers.
Role Summary
The successful candidates will fulfill the responsibilities outlined in the Registered Nurse position description, providing professional nursing care to assigned patients or groups in accordance with the standards set by the College of Nurses.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Possession of a valid B.C.L.S.
- Coronary Care 1 certification or willingness to obtain within six months is preferred
- Ability to perform additional nursing skills as required
- Previous experience in a medical/surgical unit is advantageous
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Capacity to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, and often stressful environment with multiple demands
- Ability to make informed decisions and prioritize tasks effectively
- Capability to concentrate on complex instructions amidst distractions
- Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills
- Physical ability to assist patients, including lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying as needed
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive bending
- Commitment to safe work practices and maintaining a healthy work environment
Employment Conditions
Successful candidates must provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal reference check completed within the last year. This requirement must be fulfilled within the first sixty (60) days of employment.
Additionally, candidates must complete the Health Care Worker Health review process, including submitting an up-to-date immunization record to comply with the Ontario Hospital Association Communicable Diseases Surveillance Protocols within the first thirty (30) days of employment. NHH has a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all staff.
NHH may conduct parts or all of the hiring process virtually. We also maintain a scent-free environment; please refrain from wearing strongly scented products when visiting the hospital.
