Position Summary:

Located in a vibrant urban setting, this role as a Junior Municipal Civil Engineer involves engaging in a variety of municipal infrastructure projects from initial design to final execution. You will gain invaluable experience and professional growth while working on significant municipal initiatives. Under the mentorship of the Engineer of Record, you will be responsible for developing civil engineering designs and conducting site evaluations for municipal infrastructure, ensuring compliance with established standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a team under the direct supervision of the Engineer of Record to produce engineering deliverables that adhere to quality standards, budget constraints, and project timelines.
  • Design civil systems related to municipal infrastructure, including:
    • Preparation of design drawings utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D, encompassing plans, profiles, cross-sections, and surface designs for water, storm, and sanitary systems, roadways, and site grading.
    • Development of specifications and contract documentation.
    • Estimation of construction costs.
    • Creation of technical reports and memorandums.
  • Conduct inspections at construction sites and compile relevant reports.
  • Draft proposals that include work plans, cost estimates, and schedules using project management software.

Qualifications:

  • Must be registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or Engineer in Training (EIT) with the relevant engineering body. A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required.
  • At least 1 year of experience in civil engineering design, particularly in municipal infrastructure, with a preference for candidates having 2-3 years of experience. Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is highly desirable.
  • Experience in civil engineering, including hydraulic modeling, planning, design, and construction oversight.
  • Familiarity with contract documentation preparation in accordance with industry standards.
  • Knowledge of water, wastewater, and conveyance systems in a municipal context.
  • Strong writing skills for the preparation of technical documents and proposals.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and clients.
  • Comfortable in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and a desire to advance within the organization.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
