Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Health and Safety Specialist to join our team at Dufferin Construction Company. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for our employees and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective health and safety policies, procedures, and programs to meet company objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and assess safety risks, and provide recommendations for mitigation.
  • Investigate and report on safety incidents, near misses, and property damage incidents, and develop corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Provide training and coaching to employees and management on health and safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement safety protocols and procedures that align with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Stay up-to-date on regulatory changes and industry best practices, and provide recommendations for implementation.
  • Develop and maintain accurate records and reports on health and safety performance, and provide regular updates to management.
Requirements
  • University degree in an appropriate discipline, such as occupational health and safety, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in health and safety, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Valid driver's license (Class G or equivalent).
  • Sound knowledge of OH&S principles, policies, procedures, and regulations, including WSIA and OHSA.
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously, with a strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
