JOB PURPOSE

The Clinical Nurse Leader serves in a pivotal role within the nursing profession, overseeing various aspects of nursing practice in both hospital and community settings. Responsibilities include the facilitation of nursing policy and procedure development, implementation and evaluation of nursing practice standards, complex practice analysis and consultation, as well as the delivery of educational programs and quality improvement initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current registration with the Nurses' Association of New Brunswick.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • At least 5 years of recent clinical experience.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and collaboratively to drive change.
  • Strong understanding of evidence-based nursing practices.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient presentation skills with experience in educating adult learners.
  • Demonstrated capability to lead projects and develop/implement new policies and standards.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office Applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Physical capability to perform job responsibilities, including travel as necessary.
  • Consistent work history with a demonstrated ability to maintain regular attendance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Utilize an evidence-informed approach to facilitate the nursing policy and procedure process within the region, collaborating with various departments to ensure consistency.
  • Lead the development of general nursing practice policies and procedures as assigned, serving as a resource for others in this process.
  • Oversee the implementation and assessment of nursing standards within the designated area.
  • Mediate between differing viewpoints to align practices with established standards.
  • Emphasize the significance of change management strategies to ensure successful integration of nursing standards and policies.
  • Actively participate as a member of the Nursing Standards and Policy Committee and engage in other committees as approved.
  • Design, deliver, and assess educational programs for nursing staff regarding standards and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide consultation for nursing units lacking direct supervisory oversight and serve as a resource for nursing staff and leadership.
  • Support managers in creating action plans to address significant clinical practice challenges, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement by monitoring nursing care trends and facilitating the development of programs and policies to address quality gaps.

Reporting Relationship:

This position reports to the Regional Director of Nursing Practice.

Note: The responsibilities outlined above are fundamental; additional duties may be assigned as necessary to support the operations of the Professional Practice Nursing Department.
