Job Summary

This position works within the scope of practice for an Advanced Practice Nurse in the Family/All Ages category of practice. This is an advanced practice role providing professional, analytical, and autonomous comprehensive range of health services to children and adults, including health assessments and diagnosis of diseases, disorders, injuries, and conditions; treating and managing acute and chronic illnesses and identifying health risks and needs within a holistic model.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive care using principles of primary health care within a health promotion, population health, and self-help framework.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to provide a comprehensive primary health care service.
  • Provide leadership and education to other healthcare professionals and students.
  • Act as a resource leader for their area of practice and participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Provide clinical care to vulnerable populations with a focus on new arrivals to Canada and their families in the greater metro area.
Requirements
  • Completion of an approved/recognized Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of NL and Licensed (or eligible for licensure) as a Nurse Practitioner (Family/All Ages) with the CRNNL.
  • A minimum of five years clinical experience in the last seven in primary health is required.
  • Experience working with a diverse patient population, including refugees and newcomers to Canada, would be an asset.
  • Current BCLS Certification is required.
  • Possessed strong abilities in the areas of collaboration, clinical reasoning, professional development, interpersonal effectiveness, conflict management, and teamwork.
  • Demonstrated progressive clinical leadership skills.
  • Possessed strong communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and teaching skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to function autonomously in an advanced practice role.
  • Support and participate in research to improve practice and client outcomes.
  • Demonstrated skills in computer and database management skills.
  • A valid Newfoundland and Labrador Class 5 Driver's License and the use of a private vehicle are conditions of employment.
  • A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
