Position Overview: As the Executive Vice President of Financial Oversight, you will oversee comprehensive local tax compliance for Canadian entities. This encompasses direct corporate taxation, income taxation, and indirect taxation. Your role will involve frequent communication with tax authorities and external consultants to address complex tax matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and enhance critical competencies essential for success in this position, including risk management, transformation initiatives, business insight, strategic planning, and technological advancements.
  • Oversee the financial operations of the organization, ensuring the precision, integrity, and dependability of financial reporting.
  • Manage the preparation and presentation of timely and accurate financial statements and other accounting documentation in compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations.
  • Assist in identifying, evaluating, and mitigating financial risks, providing reports on these risks to senior management.
  • Establish and maintain a robust internal control system to protect assets, prevent fraudulent reporting, and ensure the accuracy of financial information, including regular evaluations of control effectiveness and addressing any identified deficiencies.
  • Develop and implement current financial policies and procedures to promote consistent and effective financial practices throughout the organization.
  • Oversee the selection, implementation, and maintenance of financial systems and software applications, collaborating with IT teams to integrate financial systems with other enterprise solutions.
  • Prepare and submit statutory and regulatory reports to relevant authorities, and support other departments in their regulatory report preparation and review.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory bodies during audits and examinations.

Advisory Role: Provide guidance to key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management, on functional and cross-functional impacts and alignment.

Risk Management: Manage and mitigate risks through thorough assessments, supporting the control and governance framework.

Leadership: Exhibit leadership and accountability in managing risks and enhancing controls related to your team's operations.
