Position Overview

We are looking for a Family Practitioner to join our dedicated team at the Okanagan Correctional Centre. This role is designed for a physician who is eager to enhance their expertise while contributing positively to the health and well-being of individuals in a correctional environment.

Work Schedule

This is a Regular, Part-Time position, specifically on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Role Responsibilities

As a Family Practitioner, you will play a crucial role in improving access to primary health care and providing mental health and substance use support for clients in correctional facilities. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary health care team to deliver comprehensive care.
  • Utilizing the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system to enhance patient care.
  • Engaging with patients to support their health during incarceration and facilitate their reintegration into the community.

This position offers a unique opportunity to practice in a supportive environment, where you can develop your skills as a Primary Care Practitioner without the burdens of overhead costs typically associated with private practice.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Eligibility for provisional or full licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC).
  • Certification with the College of Family Physicians or an equivalent qualification is essential.

Preferred Experience

We value candidates who possess:

  • Experience in managing a diverse range of psychiatric conditions and substance use disorders.
  • Background in Correctional Health or relevant additional training.
