Position Overview:

At Vail Resorts, we prioritize service, and our Snow Cat Operations team exemplifies this commitment by crafting unforgettable experiences. As a Snow Cat Operator, you will play a vital role in preserving the pristine condition of our snow-covered slopes, operating heavy machinery to ensure optimal snow quality for our guests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand and manage the operation and upkeep of heavy equipment utilized for snow grooming.
  • Skillfully operate snow grooming machinery, such as snowcats, to maintain the aesthetic and quality of ski trails and slopes.
  • Maintain awareness of the mountain environment and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment to reduce downtime.
  • Effectively communicate via two-way radio.
  • Report advanced mechanical issues or maintenance requirements to shop mechanics.
  • Collaborate with coworkers and other departments to provide support and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of experience in snow grooming is required.
  • A valid driver's license with no restrictions is necessary.
  • Fluency in English is required for effective communication.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in small teams as well as independently.
  • Capability to sit for extended periods while operating machinery and frequently climb on and off equipment.
  • Familiarity with two-way radio operations and relevant codes.
