Position Overview:

At Vail Resorts, service is at the core of our mission, and our Snow Cat Operation team plays a vital role in delivering this exceptional experience. As a Snow Cat Operator, you will be responsible for preserving the stunning appearance of our snow-covered slopes. This role requires safety-conscious individuals skilled in operating heavy machinery to ensure optimal snow conditions for our guests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand the operation, use, and upkeep of heavy equipment utilized for snow grooming
  • Operate snow grooming machinery, such as snowcats, to maintain the quality and aesthetics of ski trails and slopes
  • Possess a solid understanding of the mountain and comply with safety protocols
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment to reduce downtime
  • Effectively communicate via two-way radio
  • Report advanced mechanical issues or maintenance requirements to shop mechanics
  • Collaborate effectively with coworkers and other departments to provide guidance and maintain positive working relationships
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of experience in snow grooming is required
  • Valid driver's license with no restrictions
  • Fluency in English is essential
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a small team
  • Capable of sitting for extended periods while operating the snowcat and frequently climbing on and off
  • Familiarity with two-way radio communication and various codes
