About the Role

The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) at Southlake Regional Health Centre is a key member of our healthcare team, providing exceptional patient care and upholding the highest standards of clinical excellence. As a dedicated and compassionate professional, you will work collaboratively with our team to deliver high-quality care to our patients.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide patient-centered care within the RPN scope of practice, adhering to hospital policies and procedures, including emergency protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team, fostering a culture of transparency and respect.
  • Collaborate with Registered Nurses and other team members to ensure seamless care delivery and promote a positive work environment.
  • Contribute to patient assessments and care planning, utilizing your expertise to drive informed decision-making.
  • Support the orientation of new staff and students, promoting knowledge sharing and skill development.
  • Promote best practices for safe and exemplary care, staying up-to-date with the latest industry developments and guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned, ensuring flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Requirements and Skills

  • 3 years of acute care or cardiac experience, with a strong foundation in intravenous and CVAD maintenance.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to analyze and solve problems effectively.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development, with a passion for staying current with industry trends and best practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Demonstrated leadership and teamwork abilities, with a focus on collaboration and mutual respect.
  • Knowledge of Electronic Documentation systems, with experience in data entry and record-keeping.
  • Passion for patient and family-centered care, with a commitment to delivering high-quality care that meets the unique needs of each patient.
  • Understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion principles, with a focus on promoting a culture of respect and inclusivity.

Qualifications

  • RPN diploma from a recognized nursing school, with a strong academic record and a commitment to lifelong learning.
  • Valid RPN Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario, with a current BLS certification and a willingness to obtain CC1 certification within 3 months of hire.
