Senior Investment Analyst

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Investment Analyst to join our team at TransAlta. As a key member of our investment analysis team, you will play a critical role in evaluating and managing investments in the power generation and utilities sector.
Key Responsibilities- Financial Modeling and Analysis: Develop, maintain, and refine complex financial models to evaluate potential investment opportunities, including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and greenfield projects.
- Market Research and Analysis: Conduct in-depth market research and analysis on the power generation and utilities sector, including trends, regulatory impacts, and competitive landscape.
- Investment Strategy and Portfolio Management: Assist in the development and execution of the company's investment strategy, aligning with corporate goals and risk appetite. Monitor and report on the performance of existing investments, including financial performance, operational efficiency, and market positioning.
- Risk Management and Due Diligence: Assess and mitigate risks associated with investment opportunities, including market, credit, and operational risks. Lead and participate in due diligence processes, including financial, operational, and legal reviews of potential investment opportunities.
- Communication and Stakeholder Management: Prepare and present detailed investment analysis and recommendations to senior management, investment committees, and other stakeholders. Communicate complex financial information clearly and concisely to non-financial stakeholders.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field. MBA, CFA, or similar advanced certifications preferred.
- Experience: 4 to 7 years of experience in investment analysis, financial modeling, or related roles. Prior experience in investment banking, corporate finance, equity research or other valuation-driven roles.
- Skills: Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, Excel, and financial analysis tools. Familiarity with industry-specific software and databases. Solid understanding of the power generation and utilities sector, including regulatory environments, market trends, and key players.
- Personal Qualities: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and make data-driven decisions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present to and influence senior management.
