We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Investment Analyst to join our team at TransAlta Corporation. As a key member of our investment analysis team, you will play a critical role in evaluating and managing investments in the power generation and utilities sector.
Key Responsibilities- Financial Modeling and Analysis: Develop, maintain, and refine complex financial models to evaluate potential investment opportunities, including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and greenfield projects.
- Market Research and Analysis: Conduct in-depth market research and analysis on the power generation and utilities sector, including trends, regulatory impacts, and competitive landscape.
- Investment Strategy Development: Assist in the development and execution of the company's investment strategy, aligning with corporate goals and risk appetite.
- Due Diligence and Risk Management: Lead and participate in due diligence processes, including financial, operational, and legal reviews of potential investment opportunities, and assess and mitigate risks associated with investment opportunities.
- Investment Recommendations: Prepare and present detailed investment analysis and recommendations to senior management, investment committees, and other stakeholders.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field. MBA, CFA, or similar advanced certifications preferred.
- Experience: 4 to 7 years of experience in investment analysis, financial modeling, or related roles, with prior experience in investment banking, corporate finance, equity research, or other valuation-driven roles.
- Skills: Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, Excel, and financial analysis tools, with a solid understanding of the power generation and utilities sector, including regulatory environments, market trends, and key players.
- Personal Qualities: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and make data-driven decisions, and excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present to and influence senior management.
