About the Role
As a Senior Investment Analyst at TransAlta, you will play a critical role in evaluating potential investment opportunities and supporting the company's investment strategy. Your expertise in financial modeling, market research, and risk analysis will be essential in identifying and recommending new investment opportunities that align with the company's goals and risk appetite.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain complex financial models to evaluate investment opportunities, including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and greenfield projects.
- Analyze financial statements, cash flow projections, and other financial data to support investment decisions.
- Conduct in-depth market research and analysis on the power generation and utilities sector, including trends, regulatory impacts, and competitive landscape.
- Evaluate macroeconomic factors and their potential impact on investment opportunities.
- Assist in the development and execution of the company's investment strategy, aligning with corporate goals and risk appetite.
- Identify and recommend new investment opportunities in renewable energy, traditional power generation, and other utility-related assets.
- Monitor and report on the performance of existing investments, including financial performance, operational efficiency, and market positioning.
- Provide recommendations for portfolio optimization, including divestitures, reinvestments, and strategic partnerships.
- Lead and participate in due diligence processes, including financial, operational, and legal reviews of potential investment opportunities.
- Prepare and present detailed investment analysis and recommendations to senior management, investment committees, and other stakeholders.
- Communicate complex financial information clearly and concisely to non-financial stakeholders.
- Assess and mitigate risks associated with investment opportunities, including market, credit, and operational risks.
- Develop and implement risk management frameworks and strategies.
