Job SummaryThe Commercial Underwriter is a critical role in our Commercial Lending team, responsible for reviewing and analyzing commercial lending deals to maximize member satisfaction while minimizing risk to the organization. This position requires a strong understanding of commercial banking and lending principles, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver loan products and services to commercial clients, collecting and preparing documentation for credit applications and conducting initial financial analysis to determine appropriate debt terms.
- Review and prepare documentation for loan agreements and commitment letters, as well as progress draws.
- Conduct annual credit reviews and prepare administrative reports and market research.
- Prepare and follow up with member correspondence and inquiries.
- Ensure lending and collection compliance, assisting with lending audit reviews and follow-up actions.
- Fulfill credit monitoring and compliance requirements, including analysis of reports and financial statements.
- Support pre-funding due diligence and security documentation completion and follow-up.
- Proactively identify opportunities for retail and commercial sales and referrals.
- Degree or diploma in finance, commerce, or business administration.
- At least 2 years' experience in the financial industry, including lending and/or loans administration.
- Commercial banking and lending experience is preferred, with a strong asset being experience with Real Estate/Land/Construction loans.
- Knowledge of accounting/financial analysis and credit principles.
- Proactive nature with the ability to identify business development opportunities.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills, as well as sound judgment abilities.
